Society of Geo Scientists, Jharkhand (SGSJ) was formed on 6th of September, 2009 at Ranchi to provide a non-profit and apolitical platform to Geoscientists of Jharkhand willing to contribute and share their skill for the holistic development of the State. The aims and objectives of the Society are based to function as community focused society towards providing services and support for the Development of Geoscientific Arena of Jharkhand.
We have more than 400 Members including 300+ Life Members working as Geo Scientists in various organizations like CCL, CMPDIL, MECON, CIMFR, Directorate of Geology-Govt. of Jharkhand, Geological Survey of India, Indian Bureau of Mines, Central Ground Water Board, Ranchi University, Sahibganj College, Birsa Agriculture University, Arcelor Mittal, Tata Steel, Abhijeet Group, Adhunik Group, JSPL, JSW, TMSPL University, BIT Mesra, BIT Sindri, IIT-ISM Dhanbad, Tanusai Mining Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Rungta Mines Ltd, Hindalco, Vedanta Industries, IMR etc. We have about 100 Student Members also registered with the Society.
The Society is engaged in various activities for the benefit of the State of Jharkhand and the Geoscientist community like organizing the Seminars, Workshops etc. related to recent trends in the field of Earth Science and Mining Industry. It is the only Registered Society in Jharkhand working in this field.

The Society of Geo Scientists, Jharkhand exists to bring together the earth scientists of the State from government departments, academic institutions, and industry on a single non-profit and apolitical platform. By uniting professionals who would otherwise work apart, the Society creates a common space where knowledge, experience, and research can be freely shared for the wider benefit of Jharkhand.
The Society is committed to advancing the study and understanding of the State's geology, and to ensuring that this understanding contributes meaningfully to Jharkhand's growth. It works to strengthen the professional community of geoscientists, to support the continued learning of students and practitioners alike, and to encourage the responsible and scientific use of the State's rich mineral and natural resources.
Above all, the Society seeks to serve as a trusted and lasting institution for the earth sciences in Jharkhand one that speaks for the profession, upholds the value of sound geological science, and works steadily towards the development of the State it belongs to.
